Gone Girl

Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

Gone Girl is based on the best-selling novel written by Gillian Flynn. Nick Dunne is a self-styled “salt-of-the-earth” Midwestern has a blissful married life with his beautiful wife Amy but begun to crumble when Nick reports that his beautiful wife Amy has abruptly gone missing on the occasion of their fifth wedding anniversary. Nick’s lies, secrets and strange behavior begun to unravel under the pressure from the media and the police.

Nick returns home from the pub he co-owns with his sister and found his wife missing with evidence of struggle, a broken glass. Nick and his wife’s parents appealed to the media to help find Amy which turned into a tabloid sensation. Nick has to hire a lawyer as he became a chief suspect and also to handle the issue of him becoming “the most hated man in America”.

Gone Girl is stylish, dark and intelligent; good story, good plot with very good character development and greatly adapted from the novel. The movie starts with whodunit with the first half a very intense crime thriller until the middle with the “big-reveal” which turns the movie into a telenovela/melodrama until the end. Overall the movie is recommended; it is a stylish whodunit movie.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are two great leads surrounded by a good supporting cast. It stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, Rosamund Pike as Amy Dunne, Tyler Perry as Tanner Bold and Neil Patrick Harris as Dessi Collings, directed by David Fincher and Dawn Swiderski.
